SmartMembranes participated as an exhibitor at the SETAC Conference 2025 in Vienna, presenting its porous membrane solutions for microplastic filtration and analysis to an international audience from environmental science, analytical chemistry, and research.
At the SmartMembranes booth, the team engaged in numerous discussions with researchers and experts on reliable filtration, size-selective fractionation, and analytical workflows for micro- and nanoplastics. Particular interest was shown in the use of silicon and aluminum oxide membranes as combined filtration and analysis substrates, enabling FTIR- and Raman-based polymer identification directly on the filter.
SETAC provided an excellent platform to exchange insights on current analytical challenges, standardization efforts, and regulatory requirements in microplastic research. The discussions highlighted the growing demand for reproducible, contamination-free and polymer-free filtration solutions, especially for environmental and water analysis.
SmartMembranes would like to thank all visitors for the valuable exchange and the strong interest in its microplastic analysis solutions. The company looks forward to further collaboration with the international SETAC community and to advancing innovative approaches for robust and standardized microplastic analytics.
